Course Overview
This course is designed for shooters who carry a handgun daily and want to build confidence transitioning between their everyday carry pistol and a defensive carbine. The focus is on efficient gun handling, movement, target accountability, and making accurate hits under realistic time constraints.
Students will refine the fundamentals, learn to maximize efficiency, and develop standards that transfer to real-world defensive applications. Every drill is designed to reinforce consistency, accountability, and performance—not just speed for the sake of speed.

Firearms safety and range procedures
Confirmation of zero (carbine)
Fundamentals of pistol and carbine marksmanship
Efficient presentation from the holster
Ready positions and weapon manipulations
Emergency and tactical reloads
Malfunction diagnosis and clearance
Pistol to carbine transitions
Carbine to pistol transitions
Multiple target engagements
Speed vs. accuracy accountability
Target discrimination and decision making
Shooting from cover and unconventional positions
Positional shooting
Movement to and from positions of cover
Forward, rearward, and lateral movement
Cadence and recoil management
Practical application drills
Performance standards under time
Equipment List
Reliable semi-automatic pistol
Reliable semi-automatic carbine
Strong-side OWB or AIWB holster (must completely cover trigger guard)
Minimum of 3 pistol magazines
Minimum of 3 carbine magazines
Magazine carriers/pouches
Rifle sling (required)
Quality belt
Eye protection
Electronic hearing protection
Baseball cap or brimmed hat
Weather-appropriate clothing
Closed-toe shoes or boots
Sunscreen
Water and snacks
Note-taking material (optional)
Ammunition Requirements
Pistol: 400 rounds
Carbine: 400 rounds
Prerequisites
Students must demonstrate safe firearm handling and be comfortable drawing from a holster and operating both weapon systems safely. This is not an introductory firearms course.
